One of the things that makes my sleep apnea mild is the fact that I never actually stop breathing. My breathing slows down.
My mean oxygen for the sleep study was 94% and I’m told anything over 90% is a good thing.
My oxygen did go down as low as 81%, but that was only a very small percentage of the time.
I snore loudly. The doctor called it moderate, but anyone who has heard it will disagree.
I find it less scary that I don’t stop breathing.
I’m glad that losing weight is most likely going to cure my sleep apnea. Dr. H explained that a lot of people who have severe sleep apena don’t always get cured by weight loss. The weight loss makes is less severe, but it sometimes doesn’t go away.
People associate sleep apnea with weight issues. What people need to realize is:
Not every overweight person who snores has sleep apnea.
Not everyone who has sleep apnea is overweight.
I actually had a little trouble falling asleep last night because I couldn’t get all of this stuff off my mind. Plus I had to be up an hour earlier than normal so I was putting pressure on myself to get to sleep.
I’m not looking forward to another sleep study to fit my CPAP, but I am looking forward to trying the CPAP to see if I can get better sleep.
