Sometimes too much information is a bad thing…

I work as a Patient Safety Specialist at the hospital where I am thinking of having my surgery. Working in this position can be a blessing and curse though because I have access to so much more information and resources than the average patient, but at the same time, there are things that will just scare the shit out of you.

I can’t really write about any of my research in general, but after getting opinions from my colleagues, I’m both scared and confident. I was scared before though just because it’s surgery and it’s a huge change, so what is the difference, right?

As of right now, I’ve decided to go ahead with my hospital’s program and have my initial appointment with the surgeon set up for July 16th. I’m looking forward to meeting with him and establishing my own opinion.

I thought about going elsewhere because I would have more privacy, but there is a huge commitment pre and post op and I just don’t have the extra time to be commuting into Boston or Newton.

About nancykerins

I am a 38 year full time working mother of one doing my best to get healthy. I had lapband surgery in November of 2010 and then had a revision to the vertical gastric sleeve in February 2012. The purpose of this blog is a therapeutic tool for me to work out my feelings and write about what is going on during this experience. If I can help others through this blog, that is just a bonus.
