Started Couch to 5K once again

One thing that I’ve never been in my life is a runner.

I don’t know if I’ll ever want to do more than a 5K, but it has become a goal of mine to run at least one.

I’ve done 5Ks before, but I have yet to be able to do one where some walking is not involved.

This will be my 4th (and last) attempt at couch to 5K.  Every other time I’ve done the program, I get up to a decent interval of run/walk, I’ve gotten sick.  Not like a cold sick, but like respiratory infection or pneumonia sick.

I still think it’s coincidence, but if I get seriously ill again after a couple of weeks on the program, I think that will just mean that I’m not meant to run.

On a positive note though, I started day 1, week 1 again last night and the first day was easier than it has been in the past.  It felt good to do it and I got a nice sweat before TRX.

I’ll keep working at it and see what happens again.

Getting back into the swing of things and noticing small changes

In the past, I’ve gone through periods of logging/losing weight and then after a vacation and doing whatever, stayed doing “whatever” for weeks/months/years after.

Especially after getting to a new lower goal weight.

I discussed this with my therapist yesterday because another small change HAS happened.

I really did want to log my food while at my conference, but it got beyond overwhelming.  I want food logging to be automatic and to happen, but when it gets to the point where I feel like I’m going to rebel, I know it’s time for me to take a step back.

The small change that happened was this time instead of spending days/weeks, etc. not logging and getting back into the swing of things, I was food shopping to prepare and back into it fully by Monday (got home LATE Friday night).

I have now logged 3 days in a row and am on my way to my goal of logging 30 in a row.

The other great part of the small change is I WANTED to get back to it and it felt easier in the past to get there.  My head is in a good place right now and I want to keep it there for as long as possible.

Catching up! Wow! That is a lot of fitbit updates without a real post!!

This have been hectic so this will be a catch up post.  I also decided to change my fitbit posts to weekly.  I do like sharing my fitbit data, but daily does seem to be a bit much.

Last week I went to a conference in San Diego for work.

There was a lot of food and a lot of booze.

I did start off by trying to track my food, but it got overwhelming.  By Tuesday afternoon I said “F” it!

What I did try to focus on was trying to just relax and enjoy the conference without overeating.

Some meals I made fantastic choices.  Some meals I did not.

What felt great though is I never felt like I overate or binged.  When I got full, I stopped.

I also got to have the experience of a lifetime while I was at my conference.

The vendor who hosts the conference always does a “mystery dinner” on Wednesday night.  This year’s dinner was at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, also known as “Top Gun”.

It was a very amazing and overwhelming experience.  We got to tour parts of the base, see inside many different aircraft (including an F-18), and talk to a lot of the marines.

It was great to find out that the marine base was allowed to do this to help raise money for the Marine Corps Community Services.  They were also selling tshirts, hats and other souvenirs.

The vendor hosting the conference donated an extra 10,000 dollars as well.  Considering they are a Canadian company, it meant a lot that they would do so much for our military.

I got back from the conference late Friday night and spent the rest of the weekly severely hung over and jet lagged.

On Monday I finally weighed myself and I was only up 2 lbs!  Considering I hadn’t been tracking and eating whatever, I was beyond happy for that.

Even better was when I weighed myself this morning and that 2lbs was gone!

So now that  all of the bloat is gone it looks like I’m back to my pre-conference weight and hopefully by Monday I will have another loss.

I started logging my food again on Monday so today is day 2 of logging.  My goal is to make it 30 days in a row.

I’m feeling good!
